Janette A. Ekanem is an attorney for the Employment Unit at Greater Boston Legal Services (GBLS) where she represents employees in various discrimination matters including sexual harassment cases, and cases under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. Attorney Ekanem also represents employees in a variety of wage and hour matters in state and federal courts. Prior to joining GBLS, Attorney Ekanem practiced commercial real estate law in a Boston law firm.
Attorney Ekanem is Vice Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Labor and Employment Section Council, and she serves on the steering committee for the Boston Bar Association’s Civil Rights and Civil Liberties Section. She is also a member of the Clark University President Leadership Council, and has served multiple terms on the Boston Bar Association Real Estate Section Steering Committee, and the Community Service Committee of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association. In 2019, Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly honored Attorney Ekanem as an “Up & Coming Lawyer,” and she received the Distinguished Young Alumni Award from Clark University.
Attorney Ekanem holds a B.A. in Government and International Relations, Magna Cum Laude, (2009) and a Master of Public Administration (2010), from Clark University. She is a 2013 graduate of Northeastern University School of Law.
