The MBWA Board is grateful to all of you who attended and supported our 2017 Ida B. Wells Awards Ceremony & Afternoon Tea on April 8th. It was a delightful afternoon that allowed us to honor two of Massachusetts’ top black women attorneys – Karla L. Jarvis and E. Abim Thomas. Our honorees exemplify the intellect, skill and achievement that make African American women attorneys the powerful contributors we are to the Massachusetts legal community and we congratulate them again.
Thank you also to our remarkable Mistress of Ceremonies, Nicole M. Bluefort, for ensuring that the ceremony flowed smoothly and to our phenomenal keynote speaker, April C. English who reminded of us of the everyday struggles that black women attorneys face (#BlackWomenAtWork) and challenged us to do more to reach back to and mentor the junior attorneys and law students who are coming behind us. We have several wonderful photos of our lovely afternoon. Click here to view them.
Finally, thank you to all of our many sponsors and other supporters without whom our annual Ida B. Wells event would not be possible. We are grateful for your commitment to our work and your contribution to making this year’s Ida B. Wells Awards Ceremony & Afternoon Tea a great success.
Thank you again for investing in the advancement of Massachusetts black women attorneys and the fight to ensure justice and equality for all. We look forward to seeing you again at next year’s Ida B. Wells Awards Ceremony & Afternoon Tea, if not before.
