Duties & Responsibilities
Associate Attorney position primarily responsible for providing legal counsel directly to university clients, as well as transactional, research and other support to senior lawyers in a legal office of fifteen other lawyers.
JD; minimum three years’ experience in law practice and/or judicial clerkship
Strong research, analytical, and writing skills; good judgment and ability to work well with others; broad transactional experience; desire to devote substantial portion of working time to advising on transactions and programs, drafting and reviewing contracts and other documents, and researching and analyzing a broad range of legal problems.
This is a one year position with an expectation of two one-year renewals.

Counsel and assist J.D. students and alumni/ae in all aspects of career exploration and job searches through scheduled appointments, walk-ins, telephone and email. Devise job search strategies through individualized counseling. Review resumes and edit cover letters. Conduct mock interviews. Advise students and alumni on negotiating and accepting job offers, etc. Develop job search related resources. Work with Career Development Office (CDO) team members to develop strategies and conduct extensive outreach to employers in assigned geographic area with a focus on government, public interest and public international law employers. Outreach includes travel, individual and group meetings, participation in professional organizations, correspondence and marketing materials. Develop and maintain knowledge of and monitor current trends within the legal hiring market for public sector, including government, non-profits and public international law employers. Share results with Career Development Office CDO staff, students and alumni. Participate in public service and pro bono related CDO and law school programming and initiatives.
J.D., strong interpersonal and communication skills and three to five years of related experience.
