Board Members

Olubunmi “Bunmi” Olotu serves on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Black Women Attorneys (MBWA), where she supports the professional advancement, leadership, and community of Black women across the legal profession.

Bunmi serves as Assistant General Counsel, Privacy Officer, and Records Access Officer for the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. In this role, she advises agency leadership on privacy and data governance, regulatory compliance, public records, and complex legal matters affecting behavioral health operations across the Commonwealth.

Earning her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her Juris Doctor from Boston College Law School, Bunmi built her legal career through deep trial experience and dedicated public service. She began as a public defender in the Criminal Defense Division of the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS), later transitioned to private practice as a partner, and subsequently returned to CPCS as a trial attorney in its Mental Health Litigation Unit.

Beyond her work with MBWA, Bunmi is deeply committed to civic engagement, legal ethics, and community leadership. She serves as a hearing officer for the Massachusetts Board of Bar Overseers and as Chair of the Board of Governors for the Stoughton Old Colony YMCA. She also serves as a volunteer mentor with Partakers College Behind Bars and previously served on the Town of Stoughton’s Community Preservation Committee.
